Bastille Day!

Allez les Bleus! It’s Bastille Day!

For those who didn’t see the “BREAKING NEWS” post from earlier this morning, the French Academy emerged victorious in attempt to reassert their Academy-strength.

In a well-executed plot to kidnap and capture the Chinese Academy’s Language Director French Academy students and staff personified their French pride. During the Chinese Academy’s morning assembly, students and staff from the French Academy stormed their building, shouting war cries, such as: “Allez les Bleus!”

Tong Chen: Captured???

This morning, the Chinese Academy was ambushed: Tong Chen—the Academy’s Language Director—was kidnapped and captured by the French Academy!

For those who didn’t see the “BREAKING NEWS” post, the French Academy ambushed and surprised everyone when they captured Tong Chen in the middle of the Chinese Academy’s morning assembly.

It was—in every sense—a defeat on the side of the Chinese Academy. The French now have the upper hand!

Just now, during the Chinese Academy’s morning assembly, Chinese Language Director—Tong Chen— was kidnapped...by the French Academy!!

To celebrate Bastille Day, students and staff from the French Academy stormed the Chinese Academy’s morning assembly with purpose, pride and power—Vive la France!

East vs. West: What about it?

Can you analyze the cultural differences between the Eastern and Western Worlds? Better yet, can you discuss this topic...all in Chinese?

Here at St. Michael’s, students from the Chinese Academy can.

In an interesting twist on a lesson, students today discussed the differences that face these two separate hemispheres of the world. More notably, however, the students learned that these stark contrasts—some of which have led to certain levels of animosity between these hemispheres—shouldn’t separate the cultures. Instead, they should unify them.

Bastille Day Eve

It’s Bastille Day Eve for the students of the French Academy here at St. Michael’s. And, without a doubt, there is excitement in the air.

As of right now, the students and teachers of the French Academy are scheming about and planning ways of how they can make their mark on Bastille Day....stay tuned and check back tomorrow to hear about how they glorified their celebration of France’s National Day! Vive la France!

After yesterday's excitement, everyone was due for a quiet, peaceful day. And that's exactly what they got today.

Colchester 2016: Field Days

Today, history was evoked on St. Michael’s campus.

All thanks to Brenna Rice—our Activities Coordinator at St. Michael’s—this year’s Field Day games were not only an incredible success, but also a huge standout and unifying event for all five of Middlebury Interactive’s Summer Language Academies!

The weekend is here!

It’s Saturday! And you know what that means...rest!

After a full week of classes, students earned a well-deserved day of rest, in which they had the chance to catch up on sleep and relax with their friends.

Although there were no classes being held today, there were still several activities going on around the campus. Here is a brief overview of some of them:

Saturday School...for the Chinese Academy!

Due to their trip to Burlington yesterday, students from the Chinese Academy didn’t have a typical Saturday—instead, they attended classes, making up for the ones that they missed the day before.

However, none of the students complained about this. They brought their enthusiasm and intellectual curiosity to each class, excited to continue their lessons from Thursday.
